I just received this book and wow, I am amazed and excited to try these recipes. I meal plan and I already have 30 suppers from this book that I want to make for my family. As others have stated, there are no pictures but you do not need them. This is not an overwhelming cookbook, nothing is complicated about these recipes. I really like how everything is made yourself, just about, this is a true homemade cookbook to me. It is not throwing a bunch of processed canned food into a baked meal.
I think whether you love meat or not, this cookbook would be a good one to have in your kitchen. I have searched but meatless meals are hard to find without soy added in them, very few of her recipes even call for that tofu stuff.
I have a gluten free, soy free child so this cookbook was perfect for my family. I have been doing the gluten, soy free thing for over a year and half, this cookbook just made my life so much easier meal planning and my grocery bill.
I have tried some of her recipes from her blog site and I was sold. I made the chick peas and sweet potato potpie, but I changed it from chick peas to white beans.
I would recommend this book to anyone, meat eater or not, lots of good recipes to choose from.

Meatless Meals for Meat Eaters Over 150 Delicious Recipes Miriam Barton 9781934393468 Books Reviews
I give this book two thumbs up! This will end up being a go-to book on my shelf, not only for meatless meals but for side dish and salad ideas. At first glance it was disappointing there were no photos, but now I hardly notice they are not included. There are a great variety of recipes and they are all straight-forward and uncomplicated. Lots of the recipes you could probably throw together from your pantry staples.
Next on my list of recipes from the book to try vegetable fried rice, spinach potato cheddar cakes, red grape vinaigrette, chickpea broccoli and quinoa casserole, and faux sloppy Joe's.
I have been a vegetarian for a few years and every once in awhile I need some more inspiration. This book has fabulous recipes that are easy to follow with ingredients that are easy to find. Before i could maje the first recipe, my 20 year old daughter had placed sticky notes on many of the pages and had planned out a whole week of meals. She thought they were very easy to follow and that is good for those who are new to meatless eating.
The best part is that my son loved the recipes too. He is a very picky eater and pleasing him can be difficult. This cookbook would be a great addition to any kitchen.
This week, I acquired my second copy of the fabulous cookbook, Meatless Meals For Meat Eaters, by Miriam Barton. I am giving this copy to my sister, who has expressed a desire to become a vegetarian, but like so many others, finds it hard to believe that consistently delicious meals are possible without meat products added.
I became a vegetarian years ago, and the health benefits are fantastic. The problem I initially encountered was finding a variety of meals to enable me to remain a vegetarian. For those opting to go meatless today, Miriam Barton is your guru. Meatless Meals For Meat Eaters contains over 150 mouth-watering recipes that actually spawn dozens of other combinations for creative chefs, moms feeding hungry families, busy singles on the run, and anyone interested in healthy cuisine.
With choices like Spinach and Ricotta Stuffed Shells, Margarita Pizza, Southwestern Stuffed Portabella Mushroom Caps, Black Bean Wraps, Mexican Cornbread Casseroles, and dozens of easily prepared salads and soups, dining healthy is a snap for hungry folks wanting plenty of protein, iron, and energy in their diets. One need not be vegetarian to enjoy the extremely hearty preparations in this wonderful cookbook.
This hungry Italian has tried over thirty recipes thus far, and every one was scrumptious. I'm a believer!
I'm not a vegetarian, but I'm also not a huge meat fan--I've often said I could be a vegetarian if I knew how. But the thing is--Miriam's cookbook isn't about trying to get people to be a vegetarian, rather it is about teaching people healthy eating skills and giving them a chance to reduce the amount of meat in their diet.
The first thing I made were her delicious peanut butter granola bars. My kids and hubby devoured them and oh my goodness, I wanted to eat 10 of them! I was so excited to have a healthy after-school snack for the kids, who come home ravenous. The only thing I would change about the cookbook if I could--add pictures to the recipes--but I found a solution! You can visit Miriam's blog here [...] and you'll see tons of pictures and even MORE delicious recipes.
I can't wait to try more recipes. Our grocery budget is always something we're working on and we've been cutting back on meat-filled meals because they are more expensive. I figure the Mixed Vegetable Lo Mein cost about .50 cents a person for my family of six--maybe even less since my hubby took it to work for lunch the next day!
Didn't find one recipe that sounded edible.
We haven't done many receipts in this book. Have a lot of cook books and it takes time to go through them all to find a good meal
I've been trying to introduce more vegetarian food to my family for years, so this cookbook sounded right for us. I was amazed when I tried the cuban beans and savory rice. My kids have not been big fans of beans in the past, but everybody loved it and my 5 year old had thirds! Hurray! My husband didn't even realize he was eating a vegetarian meal with another recipe.
The recipes are pretty easy and give lots of options without just having to use "faux meat" all the time.
