I found this novel difficult to read and discern the source of perspective. The perspective of the main character seemed to jump around. Not very engaging.
I was riveted from beginning to end. It was a reminder of where we've been as a nation and what is expected of us as Christians in the here and now.
You will be drawn into the characters and all they are dealing with in life. You will hurt with them and rejoice with them. And in the end you will see God's hand in all of it. I have enjoyed both of Noelle' s books and highly recommend them.
Considering that this book was written by my daughter and dedicated to my dad who was a World War I veteran I have to give it 5 stars. Nonetheless, if you like simple, heartwarming stories you will love this book. It is historical, it is about families, it is a love story, and it is well written.
When we see our military coming home damaged by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan it is not hard to imagine that all veterans of former wars have gone through the same sort of experiences. My dad was one of those damaged by war but in time overcame his nervous breakdown and his digestive problems and became a great father to his family of four.
I salute my daughter for wanting to write a story about this time period.
A slow start, getting characters in my mind, but a great book with much information about the war and the people at home while the soldiers were gone.
Light Over Water was a well written book that caught my attention right away and all the way through. Wonderful story.
Our lives were shaped by what happened in WWI. This story gives us a taste of what that awful war was like, for those overseas fighting and those here at home who waited patiently for them. An endearing tale of love that stands the tests of tragedy and triumph. The setting is accurate and believable. The characters are charming and courageous. This book is a wonderful tribute to a grandfather and grandmother who inspired it.
